Hi musket ball I use a Coiltec 15" WOT for the beach with my Soveriegn and get great depth and ground cover, have done for years and would challenge any other coil and machine come to that for the beach. As for inland I purchased an ultimate coil 13" from Geoff and have not looked back super light an sensitive Wink hope this helps mate.....Paul.

i reckon the 13'' ultimate aint far off the 15'' wot on the beach paul for depth but will have to test my theory soon Shocked

Was discussing this with Deadlock this evening, I've run the WOT15" inland on the explorer and it does perform very well, even on the smaller objects, but it does weigh a fair bit, got the SEF 15 x 12 but only used it a few times and it seems a good performer, would be interested to hear how well you do with the Ultimate compared to the WOT on the beach badger as they are a hell of a lot lighter and I think you could be right about the performance, could be time for a swap of coil...

I used the WOT on the beach for years until eventually trying the 12"x 15" SEF and would say that the SEF has it by an inch or two mainly because it is far more stable and so can be run  hotter without it punishing you.
The Ultimate is my favourite but can be a bit sparky on the wet similar to the WOT.

There's a couple of vids on youtube with a minelab explorer with a sef 8x6 on the beach with some good results.

i still say the ultimate could have the edge ,my last outing with it got me a couple of deep coins and it would let my etrac run at 31 sense

Mike you've got to remember that the sensitivity setting on the machine is relative to the coil, so 31 on the ultimate may only be 28 on the 12x15 Huh
