Title: WEIGHT ???
Post by: Val Beechey on June 06, 2012, 04:25:51 PM
I found this last week and wondered at the time if it was a coin weight.  There are some figures (Part of) visable but not clear.
Any ideas. ???

Thanks for the interest Al and Nordine.  Have tried to point to areas where I can see something. Not sure about the exact weight as I only have kitchen scales (Works for my cakes) ::)  but not that accurate. Can't see anything one the other side.
Seems to be made of brass or copper and could, I s'pose just be kitchen weight but a very odd weight if it is. My scale says 3/4 oz  or 20gr.
Look forward to comparing yours Nordine.

Hi Al
Had a look on Colchester site and come down in favour of either 1760's £3.12 shilling, which is 28.11mm and 27.96g  or  18thc  2 Dram apothocaries weight.

Just re-weighed my sample and my scales now say 25g. ??!!!

Thanks for your help.

Val
