In the Isle Of Man there is strong evidence for the Viking settlement in the form of  hoards, boat burials, arefacts, carved crosses, houses and parliament.....There highways were the seas and  the Norwegian Vikings were invovled in settlements in Scottish Ises,Scottish coast,North West Coast of \England and Ireland...The watershed for the Irish sea Vikings was battle of Clontarf 1016 near Dublin where thousands were killed and the wealthy merchants & wealthly Royal family were pushed out into North West Britain and possibly Wales...If i was looking in Wales  ...I would look coastal ,for bays where the flat botttom boats couid land ,low cliffs, forts and fertile land...Thats the method that i adopt and sucessful may i say...Good hunting Rob  Grin
