Title: Silver Hallmarks
Post by: jtalbot0001 on October 10, 2018, 10:59:41 PM
Hi All,

I went out for an hour or so this evening after work, too nice to pas up. At the end I found a scrap piece of silver with some marks on it, I still can't work out what the object would have been, but it has a letter "W" and a strange "X" type symbol on it, I will try and take a picture of it tomorrow, I am sure the X mark will ID its age, I have not seen a mark like it before. If you were to split an X in half then add a hyphen in-between, that is what it looks like.

Jon

New one to me Jon. Are you sure it’s silver ?

I s’pose if it’s part of something realy old it wouldn’t have the sort of marks were used to.

Maybe someone else might have some ideas.

It's not a siege coin is it?
