Title: Iron Age Gold Coins Post by: BottyBurp (Kris) on January 18, 2009, 12:06:07 AM Coming to work tonight I heard something on the radio about a hoard of 800+ Gold Coins being found by a detectorist!
Imagine that, I'd be over the moon finding the one Gold coin. I've only ever found a total of two Gold ones & I found both of them yonks ago .... Title: Re: Iron Age Gold Coins Post by: bymatt666 (byron) on January 18, 2009, 06:52:57 PM in my sunday paper it says there were 824 gold coins found in a broken pot..each weighing 5g, they were in circulation from 14bc to ad15 and thought to have been made by the predecessors of queen boudica..the archeologists believe there was a settlement of wealthy tribes nearby... the discovery was made at wickham market,suffolk....what a great find !....byron
