Hello,

I am new to this game as got given a Maplin L45BH for my birthday. I know its entry level, but should find something, shouldnt it?!

Never done this before, but live on a farm and am looking at giving it a go.

I AM VERY EXCITED

Any advise or tips would be very much appriciated on how to start up!!  Huh

There is better machines on the market Wink If you want, can arrange for you to try a couple of machines out.

Yes, you've made two good starts to the hobby.

1) Living on a farm !

2) You didn't buy a Monsterlab multi-frequency to start with !  Wink  Grin


Joking aside, some of the cheap Japanese/Chinese machines can have quite surprisingly good performance.

I read of a detector repairer  (Pulsar Electronics) testing a maplins model out (I don't remember the model) and stated it was a half decent machine compared to some top end models. So don't be put off. It's fine to start with.
