The farm I detect had green waste put all over it, iv had no problems with foreign metal objects, but the biggest problem was for the farmer and his machinery, the waste was full of white fibers, cotton wool? it was a big problem for years getting sucked in to the tractors air intake systems.

The problem with these e-petitions every time is that you need a minimum of 100,000 names to get them looked at, there are roughly 12000 detectorists in the UK, not all of whom are on the internet, so that leaves us about 90,000 short lol

confused  with this discussion Huh if its as bigger problem to the farmers machinery and countryside  as you say are the farmers forced to allow it on there land surely the farmers I know would not under any circumstances allow anyone to pollute their land Angry surely the farmers would stop it

Most of the farmers I talk to are unaware of the problem. I think rather than sign bit of paper that nobody is going to take any notice of, (as Chef says 100,000 needed to be taken seriously) I tend to take the very interesting report published by NCMD a little while ago and show the pictures included to the farmers. After all, if they can 'see' the problems they can put a stop to it by not making it viable for these people to continue with the practice.
Farmer livelihoods at stake here so I'm pretty sure they wouldn't need legislation to stop spreading this stuff.

I will sign but I'm not holding my breath.

I had a great farm near Margam until it was covered in green waste. After that, all I could find were the metal fittings from MFI flat pack furniture. Legalised vandalism.

It takes alot to change a law,but you can make sure that companies dealing green waste are following health and safety guide lines adopted in law......It looks very dangerous and toxic to me......You cannot simply roll over on this one.. Huh
