As an inland dweller, I dont do much beach detecting, but as the summer is apon us I was thinking of a day out to the coast, and would be interested in suggestions as to good spots.

I don't know about my best beach but one of the most profitable beaches I've detected was Benicassim in Spain.

I was pulling out British coinage like it was going out of fashion.

Turns out there is a huge pop concert held there every year and all the Brits sleep on the beach. Smiley Smiley

Manorbier beach, Mid Winter, no one else about. Rough Sea. Flask of tea and a short but rewarding day.

Dont go to New Gale in West Wales unless you like millons of pebbles,  I have been to new Gale about ten times with my family ond only once did I take out my Metal detector, I found 1 pound coin on the bit of sand, Avoid

i notice no one has said porthcawl. there must be ton's of coins and jewelry lost down there every summer but you try finding it. i think the tides are so strong the stuff is getting washed away before it has time to settle in the sand. i've noticed the sand is more compact than barry beach maybe that has something to do with it.  mike

Got out to Borth yesterday ,nothing on the beach but loads of horrible aluminium blobs.  (found out later there used to be an artillery range up by the estuary )The rocks by the lifeboat house are great for fishing weights  ( does 9 in an 1/2hour class as a hoard?) but terrible interference from transmitter. really made the Explorer struggle.
