Ok anyone id this . We assumed it was an Elizabeth i penny , to big for a three farthings. Though I cant match up the mintmark. I assume its avove the shield. Any ideas

Should be on both sides above the flat of the shield and above the centre of the head

Hey nice find Rob first look thought Eliz then noticed just behind the head looks definately like a 1 plus shape of the crown I was going to say Charles 11 but not sure Hedgehog probably got it...any way nice one Grin Dave

Definately a 1 behind the head , something didnt ring true with the lizzy for me...though that was my 1st thought

Goes with my Charles i  half groat quite nice , even if it is trashy
