That looks interesting, can you try and get clearer pics on. And of back.

Could be Saxon, then again could be more recent as the style is still made now.

Very nice Phil, shame its broken, but still a great find,i would agree with Aide,it does look like the centre of a brooch, the only other suggestion i can think of is the centre of a ring, but could be a bit flat, some thing like this

Now that looks a bit special Phil - great find mate. I would also sit in the Saxon camp on that. I wonder what stone was in it?

Cracking post mate

well done 1more coin for bringing your avatar to our attention. it does look very similar indeed. any chance of a better picture to compare Phil's find with yours as yours seams a bit more complete.

This is early Saxon 6th or 7th century found in Llysworney on R.A.R.E club land when i was a member i hasten to add, it is a mount off a book or satchell.
Looks similare to yours, this is guilt copper alloy but yours is obviously gold.

Steve.

No problem Phil, a cracking find there to go with the other cracking finds you are making lately, keep um coming.

Obviously i don't want you to give any exact details but just out of curiosity was it found in the Vale?

As it seems that quite a few Saxon coins and artefacts have come from the Vale over the last few years.

Steve.
