If I don't find something I've just got to keep going back until I do, they were hiding but I found them in the end.
The short cross is moneyer Stivene on Lund so that is Richard 1st , class 3 I think  Huh
The cut half is a voided long cross so I assumed it was Henry III and with the triangle on the back I thought it was Irish, I know nothing about these and would appreciate a positive i.d. Like all cut halves the condition is fantastic!

I don't count them Kev, but I do know I've found three gold this year and hoping for another ( I know that's greedy, but I can't believe my luck with the gold this year, going from none in the last 12 years to three is unbelievable)

Nice finds Steve. Your ID of the shortcross is correct. The cut half is an interesting coin - a Long Cross single-lion sterling of Brabant. This has letters where there are usually pellets, and yours are A and L, so it's either WALT, thought to be a moneyer, or DALE, which was for Dalhem mint. The legend on the side with the lion on a shield reads +DUX BRABANTIE, and the cross side legend partly reads DEI GRATIA. The coins date from 1270- 1285

Here's a similarish one

Thanks for the i.d. Peter (another great bit of detective work), it does help a great deal in identifying the time span in which the site was occupied and is very interesting. Although I am aware that "one swallow does not a summer make", at the moment by the coin info, it is showing an occupation of about 60-70 years.

Well done Steve,  persevierence wins the day hey,  nice find,

i caught one of my farmers seeding and racking a field on Sunday afternoon,  he let me on no probs,  i was there a few weeks ago in stubble, nothing came up, but had some nice coins this time,
He stopped and asked me to look out for a bearing from his machine he'd lost the day before but couldn't find it,   i found it within 10 mins and took it to him,  he was well pleased,  its nice when you can do something worthwhile back for them hey,
he said i can go back too,  so hopfully some more will be waiting,
 cheers now
 Alan
