Full title

A great and terrible king
Edward 1 and the forging of britain.
Marc Morris 2008
ISBN 9780091796846
Random House

Revue from front cover,
"In this book, Marc Morris examines afresh the forces that drove Edward throughout his relentless career, his character, faith and his sense of Englands destiny, a sense shaped in particular by the tales of King Arthur. He also explores the competing reasons that led Edwards opponents (including Llywelyn ap Gruffudd and Robert Bruce) to resist him, and the very different societies that then existed in Scotland, Wales and Ireland. The result is a sweeping story, immaculately researched yet compelling told, and a vivid picture of medieval Britain at the moment when its future was decided"

Priced at £20 for hard back, But your local library may have in stock. (Herefordshire libraries have a copy) .

Currently reading, In search of the Knights Templar, by Simon Brighton. It's a guide to the sites of Britain.
