Just to make you aware there are a number of these on sites i had the misfortune of ordering one off ebay.

The tell tale signs are:-

Only beeps once when you turn it on (instead of twice)
The pitch of the beep is higher
and the proximity beeping does not increase at all it just works like a normal cheap pin pointer

I had the misfortune of just getting one off ebay and i am highly unamused.  Angry

I think that I may have been looking at one last night on E bay for £72.00 . Thats less than some second hand ones are selling for.  I thought it sounded to good to be true
Thanks for the heads up.

the problem is , if you have never owned or used one you would not know the difference between a good un' and a fake and they will get away with it most of the time  Angry Angry

The UK main Agents have commented on these fake probes on another internet site.

Be interesting what Trading Standards do about it. Wink  Jerry.

Ordered one off regton now comes with a free Garrett finds pouch. Worth the extra bit to save the hassle.

I would like to see if trading standards do something about it... that and all the other fake things that come in from china it really is a nuisance.  Embarrassed

While there are people looking for a "BARGAIN" I doubt whether trading standards
can ever stop the fakes

What I can't understand is, that the most expensive bit of the Garrett probe is the actual housing, the "working" parts can all be bought for under a fiver so why in gods name didn't the Chinese make an exact copy that worked, very odd Huh

Yes they're meant to be identical to look at right down to the box they come in.

Surely the police should be looking in to who's selling these then as it's very much a criminal act.  Angry
