Hi folk's, can anyone tell me if Barry Island or Swansea Bay is good for detecting ???.
Has anyone had any old find's from these places, and any tip's on best place to search these area's would be much appreciated, thanks Ace ;).

Don't know about Barry Island but Swansea Bay always has the possibility of turning up something nice. A few years ago a guy from the Swansea club (Carl Tough) found a Viking long pin brooch out there and proved beyond all doubt that Vikings used the bay to land their ships etc. I would suggest anywhere from Blackpill to Mumbles. Blackpill has ballast heaps of stones from old sailing ships out at the low water mark where they used to off load on the beach before there was docks. Further along there's Oystermouth which has had Roman items turn up too. But, you'll need a detector that doesn't mind wet sand and goes pretty deep. A good pair of wellies or waders and not be worried about getting full of mud. Top of the beach has the usual modern stuff, hardly worth bothering. Low water mark is good but hard work.

There was a thread running on swansea beach not long back,
 i know of a roman coin that has come from there,  and i found a lizzie hammered,
there was once a medieval village out there before the sea reclaimed it,

hellop aceboy i found a nice big silver ring and a love token on swansea beach a few months ago plus modern money... if this helps ;D
