Excellent report Neil Smiley

Thanks to you all for organising it and Chef for letting us all on there, although he'll probably notice that the fields are a bit smaller now as I took most of the field home with me attached to my boots, just so I can have a go on the Polden hills when I feel like it over the next few days  Grin  What the hell do they make that mud out of  Huh

I didnt think I had found anything apart from a 1916 farthing by the one style, but when I emptied out the finds bag and started to chuck out the rubbish I cleaned up what turns out to be a very small tap with a zoomorphic head on the spout, any ideas of age here guys ?

Looking forward to the next rally, hopefully with less sticky mud, it was like walking in Elton Johns platforms...

Hey Da Monkey, nice find and unusual too. One for the FLO really as it fit's into two camps, this type are generally dated to between 1600 and 1750 but the dog spout could push it back to the 15th/16th century Wink

Cheers guys!

Woohoo Chefy - I got a dodgy hammered desription right for once - I said I thought it may have been James 1st to the RookyPair - I was basing it on the size of the shield though!

Well Done da Monkey on the tap - as Chef said you certainly had bronze dog head pouring spouts  in the 1500's - theres an example if memory erves me in Nigel Mills medieval artefacts towards the back. Granted its different to yours but the spout end with a dogs head and mouth is very similar if you forget the tap.

I love the Rally postmortem when finds just keep turning up!

Keep them coming
