Again - my camera starts failing now! Well it was used a fair bit. Silver ing lost and broken by Deadlock. Could be repairable mate! Silver goes so brittle after 100's of years in the soil,

Here are a couple of my finds from today. The first I believe is a Roman childs ring as there was a fair bit of other roman on the field.

This looks like a Roman grot.

Looks like most found something worth keeping.

As always Neil a first class write up of the days highlights, Just one thing though Grin It was the Monmouth Rebellion and not the Civil war (40 years later).
Well for my part, I only found one Roman coin from the house of Constantine and then preceded to give it to the farmer, it must be age  Undecided
After extolling what I thought this land may hold, I thought I may have over done my enthusiasm and said to Taff the other day that I had visions, if nothing turned up, of meeting the same fate as some of the rebels, with my body parts being displayed along the M5 back to Wales as a reminder to other false profits Grin So I did breath a sigh of relief when after only a few minutes Melonhead found his first bit of silver and when Rambo produced his Stater I did feel a bit safer.
I think I caught some of Taff's chatting disease as I spent more time talking than detecting, but It was great to meet so many members that I only usually chat with on here, and it was a joy to see so many finds (even if they weren't mine).
I was also pleased for Taff on finding a lovely little Lizzy (just being PC here Grin) so come on Rob get the photo's up.
Anyway have a lovely Christmas everyone and here's to 2012.

Another brilliant, epic writeup Neil. Thanks for spending so much time doing it (and taking so many pictures during the rally).
Finding decent rally land is very hard at the moment. It's one of those years when land is just not available for one reason or another. Rob (Tafflaff) has worked wonders for us this year. The farms he's found for us have been really outstanding quality. Two of our rallies earlier this year have been record-breaking for the number of hammered coins found and once more he has come up trumps for us with the rally today (with a little help from Chef Geoff who pointed him towards the Horsey area).

Today will go down as one of DW's classic rallies. Thanks to everyone who attended and made the day so enjoyable and thanks also to the farmer for being so pleasant and helpful.
