Sorry Mungo I thought you knew. OK the Axehead is early bronze age 2100-1700BC. The button could be one for Napoleon to research on some French sites as that is where it originates "Liberté, égalité, fraternité". The sphinx badge is a collar badge and could be from a hand full of regiments, but given the location then "The Gloucesters" would be my favourite, a battle honour they were awarded in 1803 (following the battle of Alexandria in 1801).

not being funny but didn't see 95% of this that is on here  and must have spoke over 50% of people on this dig and asked if they had seen anything we was told 2 romen and an axe head also the rolex im guessing these pics are not off this dig people were leaving after 2-3 hour i did stay the full day and not slating the dig if your swinging the detector you in with a chance the fields was sodden as it rained  the night before this was flood land so you can imagine well over a foot deep in sludge in places. it was a 500mile round trip for me there was 3 of us and went home empty handed but like i say not complaining im sorry if i am offending people by this post but i am an open minded person and giving my honest opinion!!!!!
