Nice right up Neil. Your Urbs Roma coin is 4th not 3rd, it's a commemorative coin for the the establishment of Constantinople and can be dated to just 3 years 335-337AD.

The what are these? pick, shows a musket ball from a Brunswick rifle, the girdle fitted into the rifled barrel.

Nobby's Fibula is quite interesting in that it is a early variant of an already rare Wroxeter type 80-120AD.

You sure Peter - I would never normally doubt you, but I have given it a bit of a gentle clean and its certainly come up silver looking. It also seems to have the weight. Very odd.

I'll pop a picture up tomorrow in daylight.

According to the references I can access, some of these are found with silvering and occasionally appear to have some silver content in the alloy (ie billon), but were never issued as silver coins. Will be interesting to see the daylight pics.

That may well explain it Peter as I have found plenty of Roman bronzes before and they have never cleaned up like this one. Yet this one has cleaned up with a silver patina. I'll post it tomorrow. Happy with them regardless, love finding Roman.

Chef - I told you I would forget the date range on the other Roman you gave me Grin

Time for bed soon

Thanks for a great day out everyone! I big thank you to Geoff for picking me up this morning, really appreciate that! Also thanks for the link on the Brunswick Rifle Doc, a great bit of info there, I must say Geoff actually identified it for me this afternoon before his car died, glad he managed to get home OK! Some great finds, I do like the Roman coins, I'm a sucker for Roman archaeology. I wonder if those cuff links are the other pair that once belonged to the same person, as I found the same on the last rally!

Great day out, thanks to those who organised. The weather, once the wind dropped was really nice.  We find a few modern coins, a bagfull of rubbish and a George 111 ha'penny as identified by rjm in the field who said it was in nice condition.  Well, dont know what happened between then and getting home but i could hardly make anything out on the coin.  It has been in olive oil ever since but can someone enlighten me as to the cleaning of such things and how to handle in situ?
Many thanks
Rookypair

ps was that the last rally before Christmas?

See ya
