Title: Gorgeous Georgius
Post by: handyman [Alan} on February 12, 2014, 09:26:09 AM
Well, as u guys n gals brace yourselves for yet another bout of wet and windy weather, i decided to post up 2 pics of some nice georgian coins.

the first is a halfcrown, found last week. After soaking in oil and gentle cleaning, it should be silver, so i can only presume it is a forgery.

the second is a lovely obverse image of an 1871 halfpenny.

enjoy

totally agree neil, we don't often see good quality georgian coins posted. It will be interesting to see what comes along.

Nice :)

The only Geo III halfcrown I found was a forgery, but was much further gone than your example - it's quite possible that your Geo 1/2d is a contemporary forgery too - I think about 40% of them were.

Nice finds Al, i've only found three Georgian coppers and the farmer asked if he could have them.
How could I refuse ???
