went back to where i used to live, done the pasture field for over 5 years never really found much on it before

now the explr11s got the pro coil on its a totally different machine and field

found my 1st silver of the year, a 936 silver sixpence and a worked bit of hallmarked silver

and my 1st ever gold find, a gold ring from the 1700s with a nice bit of writing on the inside, it says:

C R OB 16 May 709 cet 60.

to say i was thrilled would be an understatement, i ran round the field trying to get a phone signal

im still buzzing now

Great find there Romano well done, the great thing about mourning rings is they come ready dated Grin
You could make an educated guess that the ring belonged to the husband or wife of the deceased (depending on the size of the ring) and you have a date of death 16th may 1709 and you know the initials were CR, it could be interesting to ask to see the parish register for that year to see if you can put a name to them if they were local and maybe even get an idea of who it belonged to.
