War graves information, local cemeteries.

Was just having a quick look, my great grandfather died as a result of injuries sustained at the Somme, he died in 1916 and was buried in Trealaw cemetery in the Rhondda, it was nice to find out that these have been recorded on the net.
Thought it may be useful for others!

He started off joining the Scots guards early on , but ended up in the Welsh guards when they were formed.
My brother is more up to speed on it than me, but thanks for asking I will find out.
His name was Thomas Jones, so not an easy one to follow up but will get his No.

A good website to visit is the great war forum. If he was in the welsh gaurds the he was proberbly at mametz wood in 1916. Let me know his number and i will have a look mate

My great uncle Sydney Blight was killed in WW1 near Mons on 24.08.1914 aged just 21.He's buried
at St.Symphorien Military Cemetary Belgium.Interesting to note that this was a German cemetary from August 1914 to November 1918.so he would have been buried by German soldiers.
Sydney was my mothers uncle and although she knew of his existence her father (my grandfather) never mentioned his brothe Sydney.It was only when I was doing some family research 2 yrs ago that I came across Sydney's obituary on the CWGC website. .
St Symphorien cemetary also contains the graves of the first (Pte J Parr 21.08.1914) and the last (Pte G Price 11.11.1918) allied soldiers to be killed in WW1.
