.. just a word of caution, cleaning a 'valuable' coin can actually devalue its worth.

 Like the boys have said, i wouldn't even go there unless it a grotty predec,

 the patina takes 100s of years to build up and is part of its attraction,  and value, like antique furniture.    you'd take all that away, along with the interest and value,

  to see the detail better  the most i'd do is put a bit of cream Jiff on my finger and gently rub it across the surface leaving the background black still there,

I've only just started cleaning my silver as I've started putting my coins in covers and putting them into albums.

I didn't realise how many I've found over the years.

I've got hammereds I haven't even had ID'd yet. Now's the time with the weather like it is to get things up to date.

I'm currently cleaning a Cartwheel. I love finding them and bringing them back to life is relaxing and enjoyable!

You can tell I'm getting old now  Shocked  Grin
