Pete - have you joined SMDC yet?  Loads of local knowledge to be found and there's always the rallies to go to if you haven't sourced your own land.

Great bunch of people at Swansea club but if your not interested in joining a club, and have a crown estates permit i'd just pop along to almost any beach down the gower and detect.

except that the gower beaches are owned by the national trust and as such, in theory, one needs permission from them!  ;D ;D

cheers

hi mike

if you take a look at the crown estates map, they own the beaches marked in red, thats what the permit allows you to detect.

all other beaches are in different owners other than the crown. therefore, in theory, permission must be sought from the other landowners!

cheers

i had a close-up look at the map and was amazed to find that the crown estate DOES NOT own aberavon, swansea, all the gower beaches, pembrey sands, pendine sands and all the way to tenby  :o....places we have taken for granted in the past....be careful folks........byron

Byron I think the Crown own from the bridge at Amroth and some of the Estuary and river up to Laugharne. Pembrey I think is national Parks and from Marros to Pendine is Military.
The only part you're likely to get any hassel is Pendine. They have a man on a tractor to chase you around. Tyna loves to make him work for his money. ;D

Can't resist it at Pendine.  They always have their jobsworth hat on,  so I have to go too near or over the imaginary line  ;D
Breaks the boredom for them I suppose and have had many a good chat with whoever is patrolling at the time  :)
