Title: Newbie coming back after long absence !
Post by: Pete.c on September 15, 2012, 05:21:28 PM
Hi all , I have just gone in at the deep end feet first as usual. Got myself a cscope mx6i off eBay which is all well and good. Then I have my first dilemma where to use it ? I first had a cscope 30 yrs ago and as a lad would have hours of fun and search anywhere within a five mile walk. Now I'm older and not much wiser i realised i cant just do that nowadays.
I have down loaded a beach permit so will be trying there, but also want to try inland. I don't get much time at the weekend but do find I get the odd afternoon free in the week,I live in the cardiff area anyone have any sites that I can just turn up to? Do I need any other paperwork ?
Can't express how excited I feel at the prospect of getting cold wet and muddy again but the urge has taken me !
I will make the time to attend some rallies but I'm not sure of the etiquette etc any help greatly appreciated.

Hope to see some of you out there discriminating ring pulls !!

Thanks

Pete.

Get on the phone fella, phone some of your local farms out of yell.com. Explain you're new or at least returning and ask very nicely if they mind you doing a spot of detecting. Its as easy as that.

Oh yes, and when you're detecting inland, dont be discriminating ring pulls as they tend to come in around the hammereds mark...lol.

ps Welcome to Hit the ground running, with detecting Wales  ;)

Hi Pete, never knock out ring pulls as you will lose a lot of good gear doing that. I found 2 hammered coins today with my Tesoro Tejon on disked fields near Bristol, and for sure if I had knocked out ring pulls I would of lost them.
There still un cleaned as iv just got home il try to post them if I find out how because im new to this site as well.
Anyway good luck with your permision
