enjoy this lot, all from the same field, in a 3 hour spell earlier today.

i think that field has a lot to offer, what with 3 italians and a trumpet brooch, a viccy farthing, georgian ha'penny, and shoe buckle, lead shot, buttons and of course one of my favourites ...... which as soon as i saw it i thought Nobby!

enjoy the finds

cheers

Yes, as you say, an eclectic mix of goodies. I can see why the bag seal reminded you of a certain Naughty Nobby. Roll Eyes

That's the sort of mix I would expect to find in a field that has seen habitation. Unfortunately I haven't had any indication in my new field. So disappointing. I was sure this time I was on a winner.

Happy hunting Alan.

lol, i can see why you think its a bag seal ... in fact, if i'd angled the camera you'd have seen a domed shape lead object, possibly a 'gaming counter' or 'weight'.

Now I've looked again Alan, isn't it a top off a PRATTS oil tin.?  I'm sure I've seen them before. Doesn't Neil (or is it Paul) collect them.
Alan you must be joking. Takes John all his time to walk around the house  Roll Eyes

Geoff, yes you're right, again. I'm just impatient. Praps I could borrow a digger and get things started. Wink If you want to be bored to tears, I've done some reading up on the area and I have some theories of my own. I don't think 'they' always get it right. (neither do I by the look of things) Roll Eyes

Pratts were the forerunner of Standard Oil, which is still in existence today, under the phonetic name of ESSO.

It's a bit long winded Geoff and involves Phwyll and his first Castle. And anyway I've learned the hard way 'They' Don't tend to take any notice of what the likes of you and I think.  They've got it all worked out and written down in a little Bible.
