low spot? what exactly is that?  low tide? a dip in the beach level? I fear im getting lost in all the intricacies of detecting somehow.....on the few beach visits ive made (around 8-9) ive just headed to beach started from the dunes and either headed parallel with dunes or downward from the dunes in no particulr order.......and found very little (maybe thats why  ;D)

howdoo peeps.i went to a new beach last night and spent 3 hrs finding the sweet spot ( low spot )then another 2 hrs cleaning all the modern coinage off it in preparation for going out today with my 18'' coil for the gold.
so you can imagine how disapointed i was when i turned up this morning, looked up the beach and saw two chancers on my sweet spot after my gold lol.
i decided to have a go anyway and swung away ,walking towards MY SPOT ,as i got got closer my heart sunk even more when i saw they were using sovereigns oh no.
then realised that one of them was 40 yards in front of my sweet spot and the one that was directly on it was walking and swinging too fast for a sov lol.i figured one was missing more than he was finding and they had smaller coils so my disapointment turned to joy.i then decided to turn around and wait for the chancers to clean my spot of any rubbish and move on.sure enough they had their fill of 20p coins and moved toward the other end of the beach.
then i struck,i moved through the center of the two chancers ,hit my sweet spot with my 18'' coil and struck gold they had missed lol.weehee job done. i got an 18ct band,a silver band and a childs ring
the moral of this tale is if you own a sovereign slow your swing and your pace down or more gold for me weehee.have that you chancers lol :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
p.s im the guy with the etrac and huge coil ooooh haaa haa haaa
Makes it that little bit more special when you BLAGG a gold from chancers well done Mike ;D ;D ;D

on the beach you need a bigger than standard coil for better results in my opinion anyway.my finds rate went up a lot with bigger coils.ask mark about the ultimate coils, they are as good as a sef but lighter to swing

Badger I thought you were exaggerating on your report for entertainment purposes, but it appears that you actually did railroad these guys off the area.just so people know who are patting you on the back for it.its bad that it happened let alone openly write about it!!
I seem to recall your cousin did exactly the same to me and Faye back last year and it's not a nice feeling and very intimidating.
There's enough stuff on the beaches to keep us all busy for 10 lifetimes....!!!!
I've found more stuff with my little coil than my huge one, you just got to walk over it, simple as!!!!!
look forward to seeing your finds musket ball!
Play nice dwb there's no need for it!!!!!

Had that happen also Musketball but Eventually I went over and introduced myself. I dont think DWB meant to be full on battle mode. But he did say he had a bad day.

Keep on swinging Muskhetball may meat you on the beach one day race you to the gold

So how much modern coinage did you have to shift first?

Do you often have to do that?

Still amazed by what you (and others) find - and it's amazing what people have lost!

Not trying to be awkward,or suggest anyone is exaggerating ,but I find the picture of someone digging out stacks of 10 ps 50ps 1 and 2 pound coins to get at rings or whatever rather fanciful........sour grapes on my part? could very well be.........but I think someone is being a little mischevious here......forgive me if im wrong

DFX 300 great all rounder but still getting used to her quirky little ways lol ;D
Rather pasture work, have been known to venture down the tide line from time to time only to find someone has winkled out the gold before me  ::)
Yep be great Musketball if your in the Neath area happy days

Who knows Douglas, I have not had gold YET% but in certain areas have managed to pick up pre decimal and other strange bits sometimes between 5 or 10 in a hour, only to then find nowt in other areas.
The guys who do the beaches regularly know what their looking for in ways of tides, weather and areas. Don,t ask me i just go for it and try to avoid large dogs.

Title: Re: dissapointment then joy lol
Post by: douglas1 on March 13, 2013, 05:39:55 PM
Yes Alun , im not keen on large dogs either, especially ,as like last week, when i had a bloody great doberman come running at me on the beach, thankfully he wanted to play ,but to be honest i thought the end had come ;D......but as regarding beaches,if for instance the last holiday maker on a particular beach  left in say mid september, and left behind coins or whatever in the sand, would those items still be at a recoverable depth in say late march?........and do detectors go beach combing in holiday season while holiday makers are sitting there sunbathing?Or is it a case of wait till the last ones buggered off  then make a mad dash to cash in while theres still daylight left?
Its got worse since our last talk ::)but im getting rather philosophical about it now,and your advice in private, plus another member whos given me a few important pointers regarding the farm ive got permission for have helped me look at things in a different light....tks to you both....However ,now with that help, I cant get permission from the particular area close by  which i want to search. The farmer said there was no chance ,as he had let two other guys search and apparently they left lemonade bottles, milk cartons, and several tesco bags and big clods of loose earth on his patch, plus let half his sheep out the gate, all on a sunday last year when he wasnt around........his actual words were "f*** metal detectors and all who sail in them"   such is life.

No probs on the advice, and bugger on the other detectors!!!!
Unfortunately it happens That,s where we have to be respective on other peoples land. At the end of the day its not a holiday camp, but someone place where they work hard to earn a living.
Try doing local research on say Georgian in your area, where you might find that there are many areas available to you. Good article in last months Searcher on just such a subject. Research and respect good advice to remember.

I have lurked as a guest here for quite a while and would have remained so but for one thing; the lack of criticism of one member’s behaviour recently (yes you, dances with badgers) and the lack of support for the ‘injured party’, musket ball.

Removing your comments dances with badgers does not undo your unforgivable and despicable actions on the beach that day.  To write about the incident in the manner in which you did really showed us what sort of person you are, egotistical, greedy, and selfish and a bully.

Those that have supported you and congratulated you on the supposed finds that day really need a wake up call for condoning your behaviour.  My goodness, what has this hobby come to when not only do you behave like this, but your fans actually applaud your bad behaviour; “Makes it that little bit more special when you BLAGG a gold from chancers well done Mike”.

This will probably be my one and only post as I have said my bit and will not lower myself to a slanging ping pong match on a forum.

Jassy, you certainly have bigger b*lls than several who have contributed to this thread.  Well done you and shame on some of the other members for not contributing some suitable criticism of the behaviour of this self styled king of the beaches.

I trust badgers that you will perhaps in future, think twice before you submit online your thoughts and feelings and sincerely hope there are no further references and endorsements to drug taking as I have seen in another post of yours.  It is inappropriate on a family orientated site.

Oh, and look up the definition of chancer, it's you to a 'T' dances with badgers.
"Slang an unscrupulous or dishonest opportunist who is prepared to try any dubious scheme for making money or furthering his own ends"

Speaking for myself , the only congratulations I can see are for Badgers finds
not the way in which he said he found them. which I understood it as being a bit of
toungue in cheek banter and not to be taken offensively.

And as Musket ball was the 'victim' here and Badgers has apologised I see no point in prolonging this thread any further.  ;)
