Before I chuck this, what do you think? Earthing strap or Silver Braided wire or something else. It's about 2" long.

It looks like silvered copper to me, cut a little slice in one end to see if it's copper.

Well well well, there is always something new to learn on here!  Had I dug that item, I also would have thought earthing strap. Well found m8; always better to run an item through here before chucking it in the scrap bucket.  Wink

Thanks all and thanks Geoff for pointing in the right direction.

Val, the only silver test I know is the spit and foil one which I did, and based on that I would say silver.

That sounds promising wittsy.  Spit and foil is the only one I know as well but it usually works  Wink

Keep us informed.

Spit n foil works real well. Last year I found an old ring at the back of a drawer at home and was about to chuck it when I suddenly remembered the old spit n foil trick. A quick spit and some foil; hey presto " the stink of rotten eggs ".  Strangely, no family members laid claim to the ring so it is now in my scrap silver box!

The question now is; where can I flog my scrap silver?  Wink

Hi Chris my friend I guess many jewelers or even the shop that sells coins in Rhyl would buy silver off you but the question is would you get a fair price?

Hi Richie,
I will give the shop in Rhyl a try and see if they are interested in scrap silver. You will probably
recall our complaints about the lack of victorian coins at Talacre? It looks like we have perhaps searching
in the wrong area. Recently turned up a Victorian penny and a George III penny!

Wow Chris well done my friend I think that's fantastic I will have to see if we can meet up sometime, but at the moment it looks like I'm stuck on permanent day shifts. It's which is the lesser evil days I get all weekends off but no days off in the week, or shifts which I would have to work every other weekend but have days off in the week.
