Ok , not a member but Bill Wyman kindly agreed to answer a couple of questions for Detecting Wales.com. I would like to thank Bill for taking some time out to do this.

Quote
Dear Robert,

Replies from Bill are listed below

Kind regards,
Caroline

Name - Bill Wyman
Age - 73
Status - Music God
Detectors used - C-Scope

Tafflaff Rob - Bill thanks for taking part in this interview , I'd like to begin by asking,
how and when you got into this amazing hobby of Metal Detecting?

Bill Wyman -  In 1991 when workmen unearthed a 15th century pot in my gardens

Tafflaff Rob -I know many detectorists have experienced being stereotyped as geeks by their families, peers and workmates. Have you ever had this problem, and how did you counter it?

Bill Wyman -  Yes it has happened – I reply to it by telling them some of my amazing finds

Tafflaff Rob -  How much importance do you place on the Portable Antiquities Scheme and do you feel its used.   by enough detectorists on a regular basis?

Bill Wyman -  Very important & I support it fully – as do a high percentage of detectorists (the honest ones)

Tafflaff Rob -  A bit predictable I know but it must be asked, What are your favourite finds to date, and whats number one on your finds wishlist ?

Bill Wyman: Bronze-age items – Iron-age pottery & coins – 2 Roman Sites & 300 coins & 20 brooches – Medieval finds including gold half-noble from 1361.

Tafflaff Rob - Thanks again, hopefully we may see you as a forum member one day on Detecting Wales.com

Hi Rob,
Did you have to pull a few strings to get that interview. One question you could have asked was did you turn over a few stones to get at some of your finds.I think you should have asked him to attend one of our rallies but would we have enough ground for the amount of detectorists who would turn up. Well Done.
