Guys I'd like to make a top twenty detecting finds article. The type of things we find on an everyday basis that the average new detectorist might not recognise.

Eg I found a stubby bit of bronze that was just bronze waste as far as I was concerned. However, when I posted it up on here way way way back when I first started, it turned out to be a fibula.

So If you want to post up what you would class as regular finds (with pics) maybe we can cobble together an article.

For example - Spindle whorls, unless you've seen one and know what its for , I'd imagine one of those being unrecognisable to a new starter

Another example - Jews Harp....well these are just unrecognisable to Chef.  Cheesy

Good idea Rob. I'll vote for Cow Horn protectors.( Pici attached )  amazing how many of us, when we first start detecting, think they are door knobs. Grin

Great idea Rob, being fairly new to this hobby, some kind of reference to finds would
come in handy, supposing that is that I actually find anything older than an 1857  sovereign.

We were the happy parents of a very nice shoe patten which was pointed out
by a very eagle eyed chef from a piccie we had posted of general junk really.
Now is preserved and tells a story.
