here are my finds from yesterday went out for few hours with Dale got a bit of silver and an old watch still trying to confirm if its gold or not  Smiley

Nice one steve, the strap is obiously Gold plated, but what colour is the back of the watch, 95% of the time if the back is gold coloured then it will be gold, if its stainless steel then the watch will be gold plate

If you can't see any hallmarks you can try and scrape the metal against some unglazed pottery (the rims on the bottom of mugs are usually unglazed), if it leaves a yellow mark then its probably gold, if it leaves a green, brown or black mark then not.
