This coinweight was made in Antwerp about 1540-1575 - the hand mark identifies it as being from Antwerp. The weight is for one of two gold coins, either a reaal of Emperor Charles V (shown with sword and orb) if it weighs about 5.32 grams, or for a one third reaal also known as a Carolus gulden if it weighs about 2.91 grams. These coins were minted in the years 1521-1556 Title: Re: A few of my finds Post by: hedgehog on January 30, 2009, 06:39:00 PM That's impressive Peter, much respect!
