As I said last week ,I bought a Garrett probe off Detecnicks back in February of this year.
Last week after having a lot of trouble with it  i.e  constantly falsing, speaker cover fell out, speaker crackling etc. I sent it back to Detecnicks for repair under warranty last Wednesday and
they then sent it off to Regtons?  I take it that regtons must be supplying Detecnicks with
the Probes ?. This afternoon a parcel arrived. On opening it to my suprise was
a brand new Probe, I was well chuffed. BUT and theres always a but, there was a note in the box.
It read as follows -
Probe deemed unrepairable. Probe replaced by Detecnicks.
Regtons refused warranty repair DUE TO EXCESSIVE USE.

I've only had the probe just over 7 months and thats excessive use?
I can't thank Detecnicks enough for giving me a new probe free of charge. But Regtons have just lost a future customer

its funny that i drove over to regtons back in the summer as mine started having one.
phoned up.told em what was what and they said drop it over or post it and we'll get it looked at.
the guy who does em was there told him what my problem was,he turned it on and the bloody thing was working perfick....i couldnt believe it but he turned it off and on again and aimed it at the till and it spotted the till and went mental and then carried on going mental even when move miles away from anything metal.
he said ok hang on a mo went in the back and got another one started bending the first one and trying to flex it.
told me it was just a fault with quite a few and they break as people over use em and dig holes with them instead of using a shovel.
i said not me mate i smash down the clod and just go through looking for the target and thats it.
gave me a new one and we said goodbye.
i cant believe they refused to honour the warranty, was it dirty or in bad condition?
was your scraper worn?as the guy said to me they've had em in for warranty in a 100 times worse than mine and just point blank refuse but yours wasnt that bad was it?

To be honest apart from the usual scratches and the speaker cover missing, and
the yellow on the lettering was worn away, it didn't look that bad. I cleaned it every time
I used it. . I'll have to cover this one in plastic or something. I spoke to Regtons at the W W
rally and showed it to them there, as I was looking for a replacement speaker cover.  like you they
said to post it to them and they'd have a look at it. As I hadn't bought it from them I thought I'd return it to Detecnicks under warranty.

i bought some 50mm shrink wrap for mine its about a 5 quid a metre,if you like give me your address or ill give you mine and send me a self addressed envelope and ill post you a piece ive got loads left.
ive got black and some clear stuff.
what you can do is cut it short of the battery compartment and then seal it with black mastic or if you just want to stop wear and tear just shrink it.
also you can get a black marker lid put it over the tip and then the shrink wrap over the top then shrink it and it holds it on.
then if it ever needs to go back you just snip it off.

If any one's interested. Have a look at Heat Shrink Online. They sell 1/2 mtr lengths x 50.8mm  2-1 clear for £2.12  + 89p postage.

Best thing I saw was a large rubber finger from a rubber glove pulled over the Pointer.
