Title: Todays finds Post by: N8 on March 25, 2018, 07:40:14 PM Managed to pop out this sunny morning and had a load of great signals which mostly turned out to be modern junk and a whopping 7p in modern :'(
I did however find a 1918 edward penny and a nice little button. A pin possibly off a broach and an unknown Its badly worn but you can make out a cross on the one side and the letters M O or O W on the other. Its thicker than a new £1 coin and heavy Pic attached, any ideas welcome Cheers (http://) Title: Re: Todays finds Post by: Val Beechey on March 25, 2018, 08:33:51 PM Well found N8. The thick ‘coin’ is probably a coin weight. Interesting cross if you’ve got it right. Needs some research. Or it could be a farm token (after thought) !
The pin looks more like a lynch pin with that loop on the end. A bit on the small side though. Title: Re: Todays finds Post by: N8 on March 25, 2018, 08:46:39 PM Thanks Val
The coin is worn and i can only see the cross under good light, can't get a better pic though. I'll have a look into coin weights to see if i can find out more Title: Re: Todays finds Post by: N8 on March 25, 2018, 09:01:29 PM Having conducted a quick seqrch for coin weights i think its a
1740 Moidor portugese coin weight (http://) Thanks for the tip Val Title: Re: Todays finds Post by: N8 on March 25, 2018, 09:04:25 PM Better picture of example

Beats me how they turn up in our fields. I found one a few years back. 8 reals, pieces of 8 and all that jazz. Title: Re: Todays finds Post by: wittsy1 on March 26, 2018, 04:27:59 AM Nice interesting find N8, good to see something a bit different.
